At CBI Health, physiotherapy is focused on helping individuals like you achieve significant improvements in health and daily activities. Akanksha frequently helps patients work towards goals such as:
- Through personalized physiotherapy at Akanksha's clinic, common concerns like aches and pains that I'm pretty sure are from my bad posture at my desk are thoroughly assessed and addressed with the objective of improved circulation and tissue healing. This often involves a combination of in-clinic treatment, education, and self-management strategies, helping people to once again enjoy activities like travelling more comfortably on planes, trains, or in cars for longer durations.
- Living with my baby/child having trouble with their motor skills, like delayed rolling, sitting or walking doesn't have to be your norm. Akanksha applies expert physiotherapy knowledge to work towards learning specific exercises that provide ongoing relief and maintain their progress, so you can get back to the simple pleasure of working at their desk all day without developing back or neck stiffness.
- The path to recovery from soreness and tightness in my Achilles tendon, especially after exercise and achieving feeling empowered to take control of their physical health journey for performing self-care tasks like hair washing or reaching their back often starts with expert guidance. Akanksha, a skilled physiotherapist, provides just that.
- Don't let difficulty getting out of a chair or bed due to stiffness or pain dictate what you can and cannot do. Akanksha offers physiotherapy solutions aimed at getting back to hiking, running, or cycling pain-free and with renewed vigor, helping you reclaim getting back to their regular, consistent gym workouts and enjoy a more functional life.
Your personalized physiotherapy plan, developed with Akanksha, will be designed to help you reach your specific functional and wellness objectives.
Akanksha practices at CBI Health, situated in the Hamilton Mountain West (Gourley, Rolston) neighborhood of Hamilton. The clinic is conveniently located near St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton (Charlton Campus) and is accessible via Hamilton Street Railway (HSR). Our clinic is accessible. Free patient parking is typically available on-site or nearby.
- Is there parking available at or near CBI Health?
- Yes, there is ample free patient parking available directly in front of and beside our building. Look for the designated patient spots. Please check for any time restrictions.
- Do I need a doctor's referral to see a Physiotherapist in ON?
- In Ontario, you can typically see a Physiotherapist directly without a doctor's referral. This is known as direct access. However, some private insurance plans may require a referral for coverage. It is strongly recommended that you check with your insurance provider before your appointment to confirm their requirements.
- Is physiotherapy covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) in ON?
- OHIP generally does NOT cover physiotherapy services in private outpatient clinics. Publicly funded physiotherapy is available in specific situations (e.g., post-hospitalization, for children/youth, seniors, or through Community Physiotherapy Clinics/Family Health Teams), but eligibility criteria are strict. Check your private insurance coverage and eligibility for any public programs directly with OHIP.
- Does CBI Health offer direct billing to private insurance companies?
- Yes, CBI Health offers direct billing for most major private insurance companies such as Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield, and Blue Cross. Please bring your insurance card and policy details to your appointment. Always confirm your coverage details with your insurance provider.
- Is there anything specific I should bring to my first physiotherapy appointment?
- It's helpful to bring your health card, any referral letters from other healthcare providers if you were referred, and any reports or images from relevant medical tests (X-rays, MRIs, etc.) related to your condition. If you have private insurance coverage for physiotherapy, please bring your insurance card or policy details for billing purposes. Comfortable attire that allows for easy movement during the assessment is also recommended.
- Is physiotherapy treatment supposed to be painful?
- Physiotherapy should not be painful. While you might feel some discomfort or a stretching sensation, especially initially, your Physiotherapist will adjust treatments to ensure your comfort. The goal is to make you feel better, not worse.
- I have private health insurance. How does that work with physiotherapy payments?
- Many private insurance plans cover physiotherapy. Contact your provider before your appointment to understand your coverage: annual maximum, per-visit limits, co-payments, referral requirements, and direct billing options. If CBI Health offers direct billing (as it does for most major providers), we bill your insurer; you pay any remaining balance. Otherwise, we provide a receipt for you to submit to your insurer.
- What should I expect during my first physiotherapy appointment?
- Your first appointment involves a thorough assessment: discussing your issue, your history, and physical tests to assess movement and strength. The goal is to understand your condition to create a tailored treatment plan. You may also receive initial exercises or hands-on care.
