At Alma Rehab, chiropractic care is focused on helping individuals like you achieve significant improvements in health and daily activities. Dr. Dutt frequently helps patients work towards goals such as:

  • Getting back to performing your physically demanding job duties after struggling with feeling 'jammed up' in my spine is a frequent aspiration for patients at Dr. Akash's clinic. A dedicated care plan often leads to regaining functional strength in previously weak or injured areas and a return to a more active life.
  • Many individuals visit Dr. Akash because they are tired of dealing with migraines that seemed linked to my neck stiffness. Through a personalized chiropractic care plan, they often find they can achieve feeling less 'locked up' or stiff after periods of sitting or inactivity and get back to enjoying important activities like confidently stand-up paddleboarding, even in choppy water.
  • If pinching feeling deep inside my shoulder is impacting your daily life and preventing you from enjoying confidently going up and down multiple flights of stairs effortlessly, know that effective chiropractic care can help. Dr. Akash focuses on achieving being able to lift everyday objects without the fear of pain or re-injury so you can engage in the things you love again.
  • Patients often share how pain on the outside of my hip (bursitis maybe?) affected their ability to shooting hoops and playing pickup basketball at the local outdoor court. With Dr. Akash's help and a focus on improved ability to perform everyday tasks with greater ease and comfort, many are now enjoying life with improved function and less discomfort.

Your personalized chiropractic care plan, developed with Dr. Dutt, will be designed to help you reach your specific functional and wellness objectives.

Is chiropractic treatment, especially an adjustment, painful?
An adjustment itself is typically not painful. You might hear a 'pop' or 'crack', which is just gas being released from the joint, not bones cracking. Some people feel a bit sore the next day, like after a workout, but this is usually mild and temporary. Your Chiropractor will ensure you are as comfortable as possible.
What are Alma Rehab's operating hours?
Alma Rehab is typically open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with some early morning or evening appointments available on select days. We may also offer Saturday appointments from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Please call our office at (905) 794-5555 or check our website for the most current hours and specific practitioner availability.
What should I expect during my first chiropractic appointment?
Your first visit typically involves a thorough consultation and examination. Your Chiropractor will discuss your detailed health history, current symptoms, lifestyle, and treatment goals. This is followed by a comprehensive physical examination which may include postural analysis, spinal assessment, range of motion tests, orthopedic tests, and neurological screenings. Based on these findings, your Chiropractor will discuss a diagnosis (or clinical impression) and propose a personalized treatment plan. Often, some form of treatment or advice is provided during this initial session, if appropriate.
Is chiropractic care covered by Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) in ON?
Generally, OHIP does not cover chiropractic services in private clinics for most of the population. There are very limited exceptions through specific government programs or if care is delivered within a Community Health Centre or Family Health Team that has integrated chiropractic services, which are rare for private practice. Patients are advised to check their private insurance coverage for reimbursement details.
Do I need a doctor's referral to see a Chiropractor in ON?
Chiropractors are primary contact healthcare professionals, meaning patients can book an appointment directly without a referral from a medical doctor. However, some private or extended health insurance plans may require a doctor's referral for reimbursement purposes. Patients should verify their insurance policy for specific requirements.
What is that 'cracking' or 'popping' sound during an adjustment?
That sound is a common and usually harmless phenomenon called joint cavitation. When a joint is gapped during an adjustment, the pressure inside the joint decreases, allowing dissolved gases in the joint fluid to form a bubble, which then quickly collapses, creating the 'pop'. It doesn't mean bones are cracking, and many effective adjustments occur without any sound at all.
What kind of clothing should I wear to my chiropractic appointment?
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes are ideal for a chiropractic visit. Think of what you might wear for light exercise. This ensures you can move freely during assessments and that your Chiropractor can access the areas requiring treatment without difficulty.
