Chiropractic care can be instrumental in helping you rediscover the joy of movement and an active lifestyle.
- Imagine being able to gracefully ice skating with your family during the winter months without fibromyalgia pain, fatigue, and body-wide tenderness holding you back. - Do I need a doctor's referral to see a Chiropractor in ON?
- In Ontario, chiropractors are primary contact healthcare professionals, meaning patients can book an appointment directly without a referral from a medical doctor. However, some private or extended health insurance plans may still require a doctor's referral for reimbursement purposes, so it's advisable to check the specifics of your individual insurance policy.
- What is MSK Centre's appointment cancellation policy?
- We understand that life happens! However, to ensure we can accommodate all our patients, we kindly request at least 24 hours' notice for any appointment cancellations or rescheduling. Appointments missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation fee. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to make changes.
- How long do chiropractic appointments usually last?
- Plan for about an hour for your first chiropractic visit, which includes a full assessment. Regular treatment sessions are generally more focused and shorter, often 15 to 20 minutes. Your Chiropractor will advise on the appropriate time needed for your care.
- What should I expect during my first chiropractic appointment?
- The first chiropractic session is primarily about assessment and understanding your needs. Your Chiropractor will ask about your health background and perform various physical tests. The aim is to identify the cause of your problem so a tailored treatment plan can be created with you. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, and if indicated, treatment may begin on this first visit.
- Is there parking available at or near MSK Centre?
- Yes, there is free patient parking available directly in front of or behind our building. Alternatively, metered street parking is available on nearby streets, and paid parking options are available in the public parkade located one block east of our clinic. Limited free street parking may also be found in the vicinity.
- What does a chiropractor mean by a 'subluxation' or 'joint restriction'?
- In chiropractic, a 'vertebral subluxation' or 'joint restriction' (also sometimes called a joint dysfunction) refers to a spinal or extremity joint that has lost its normal position or motion. This can irritate surrounding nerves, muscles, and tissues, leading to pain, inflammation, or reduced mobility. The goal of chiropractic adjustment is to correct these restrictions and restore proper joint function.
- Is chiropractic care covered by Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) in ON?
- In Ontario, OHIP generally does not cover chiropractic services provided in private clinics. There may be very limited exceptions through specific government programs or if care occurs within a Community Health Centre or Family Health Team with integrated chiropractic services, but this is rare. Patients are advised to check with their private insurance plans for coverage details.
