How can I tell if chiropractic care is right for me?
If you're experiencing pain, stiffness, or dysfunction related to your spine, muscles, joints, or nerves—such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, or extremity joint problems—chiropractic care may be very beneficial. Scheduling an initial consultation allows Dr. Murray to perform a thorough assessment, discuss your health goals, and determine if chiropractic treatment is suitable or if another approach might be more appropriate for your specific condition.
What is Back in Balance Clinic's appointment cancellation policy?
We understand that life happens! However, to ensure we can accommodate all our patients, we kindly request at least 24 hours' notice for any appointment cancellations or rescheduling. Appointments missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation fee. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to make changes.
What is that 'cracking' or 'popping' sound during an adjustment?
The audible release sometimes heard during a chiropractic adjustment is simply the sound of gas being released from the joint capsule as it is gently stretched. It’s perfectly normal and doesn’t hurt. The important thing is the restoration of movement, not the sound.
Is chiropractic care covered by Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) in ON?
Generally, OHIP does not cover chiropractic services in private clinics for most of the population. There may be rare exceptions through specific government programs or if care is delivered within a Community Health Centre or Family Health Team with integrated chiropractic services. It’s advisable to check your private insurance plan for coverage details.
Do I need a doctor's referral to see a Chiropractor in ON?
Chiropractors are primary contact healthcare professionals, meaning you can book an appointment directly without a referral. However, some private or extended health insurance plans may require a doctor's referral for reimbursement purposes. It’s best to verify with your insurance provider.
Is chiropractic treatment, especially an adjustment, painful?
Chiropractic adjustments are generally not painful. Many patients experience immediate relief or a sense of improved movement. Some may feel mild, temporary soreness or aching, similar to after starting a new exercise. Your Chiropractor will communicate throughout the treatment and use techniques suitable for your comfort. Any discomfort usually subsides quickly, often within 24 hours.
