Do chiropractors provide exercises or stretches?
Yes, absolutely. Therapeutic exercises, stretches, and postural advice are often a key component of a comprehensive chiropractic care plan. Your Chiropractor may prescribe specific exercises tailored to your condition to help improve strength, flexibility, stability, restore proper movement patterns, and promote long-term recovery and injury prevention.
Is chiropractic care covered by Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) in ON?
Generally, OHIP does not cover chiropractic services in private clinics for most of the population. There might be very limited exceptions through specific government programs or if care is delivered within a Community Health Centre or Family Health Team that has integrated chiropractic services. It is advisable to check with your private insurance provider for coverage details.
What is Grimsby Health & Wellness's appointment cancellation policy?
We understand that life happens! However, to ensure we can accommodate all our patients, we kindly request at least 24 hours' notice for any appointment cancellations or rescheduling. Appointments missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation fee. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to make changes.
Is it safe to see a chiropractor if I'm pregnant?
Chiropractic care during pregnancy is generally considered safe and can be very effective for managing common musculoskeletal complaints such as back pain, pelvic girdle pain, and sciatica that often arise due to hormonal changes and shifting biomechanics. Chiropractors are trained to work with pregnant women and use modified adjustment techniques and specialized tables or pillows to ensure the comfort and safety of both mother and baby. Some chiropractors, like Dr. Stock, are also certified in the Webster Technique, a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment for pregnant women.
Do I need a doctor's referral to see a Chiropractor in ON?
Chiropractors are primary contact healthcare professionals, meaning patients can book an appointment directly without a referral from a medical doctor. However, some private or extended health insurance plans may still require a doctor's referral for reimbursement purposes. It is advisable to check your insurance policy for specific requirements.
What is that 'cracking' or 'popping' sound during an adjustment?
That sound is a common and usually harmless phenomenon called joint cavitation. When a joint is gapped during an adjustment, the pressure inside the joint decreases, allowing dissolved gases in the joint fluid to form a bubble, which then quickly collapses, creating the 'pop'. It doesn't mean bones are cracking, and many effective adjustments occur without any sound at all.
