At Dr Catherine Cooke and Associates, chiropractic care is focused on helping individuals like you achieve significant improvements in health and daily activities. Dr. Singh frequently helps patients work towards goals such as:

  • Dr. Amrita frequently helps people find solutions for the limitations imposed by feeling like my lower back is locked up. The common goal is increased flexibility throughout their spine, allowing for easier movement, enabling a confident return to valued life activities, for instance, re-engaging in your favorite team sports after a long hiatus, with greater comfort and ease.
  • Experience the significant benefit of relying less on pain medication and more on their body's natural healing if you're dealing with those tension headaches I always get behind my eyes. Dr. Singh helps patients regain their ability to fully participate in activities like cycling with your local club through focused and gentle chiropractic treatments.
  • Getting back to seriously training for a half-marathon/marathon, hitting your mileage goals after struggling with pain on the outside of my hip (bursitis maybe?) is a frequent aspiration for patients at Dr. Singh's clinic. A dedicated care plan often leads to better tolerance for physical activity without experiencing significant post-activity pain and a return to a more active life.
  • Dr. Singh understands how frustrating pubic bone pain (symphysis pubis dysfunction) can be. By aiming for feeling empowered with the knowledge and tools to maintain their spinal health, chiropractic care can empower you to return to activities like enjoying your brisk morning walks with the dog, no matter the weather with renewed confidence.

Your personalized chiropractic care plan, developed with Dr. Singh, will be designed to help you reach your specific functional and wellness objectives.

Do chiropractors only treat back pain?
No, not at all! Although back pain is a common reason people visit a Chiropractor, we are trained to diagnose and treat many different conditions related to your spine, joints, muscles, and nervous system. This can include neck pain, headaches, sciatica, sports injuries, arthritis-related pain, and pain in your arms or legs.
What is that 'cracking' or 'popping' sound during an adjustment?
That sound is a common and usually harmless phenomenon called joint cavitation. When a joint is gapped during an adjustment, the pressure inside the joint decreases, allowing dissolved gases in the joint fluid to form a bubble, which then quickly collapses, creating the 'pop'. It doesn't mean bones are cracking, and many effective adjustments occur without any sound at all.
Do I need a doctor's referral to see a Chiropractor in ON?
In Ontario, chiropractors are primary contact healthcare professionals, meaning patients can book an appointment directly without a referral from a medical doctor. However, some private or extended health insurance plans may still require a doctor's referral for reimbursement purposes. Patients are advised to check the specifics of their insurance policy.
Is chiropractic care covered by Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) in ON?
Generally, OHIP does not cover chiropractic services in private clinics for most residents. There may be very limited exceptions through specific government programs or if care is delivered within a Community Health Centre or Family Health Team with integrated chiropractic services, which is rare. Patients should verify their private insurance coverage.
How long do chiropractic appointments usually last?
Plan for about an hour for your first chiropractic visit, which includes a full assessment. Regular treatment sessions are generally more focused and shorter, often 15 to 20 minutes. Your Chiropractor will advise on the appropriate time needed for your care.
Will I need to get X-rays before starting chiropractic care?
X-rays are not routinely required for every patient. Dr. Singh will conduct a thorough history and physical examination to determine if imaging studies are clinically necessary. Imaging is typically recommended to rule out serious conditions like fractures or pathology, assess for significant spinal degeneration or instability, or if your condition isn't improving with conservative care, always following diagnostic guidelines to minimize radiation exposure.
Do Chiropractors work with other healthcare professionals?
Yes, Chiropractors often collaborate with other healthcare professionals such as family physicians, physiotherapists, massage therapists, naturopathic doctors, and specialists to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for their patients.
